Facebook Connect WordPress Plugin Configuration
Installation and configuration videotutorial:
1. Log in to the Facebook Developer application: http://www.facebook.com/developers/
2. Create a new application, more info: http://developers.facebook.com/get_started.php
3. Upload the `fbconnect` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
5. Configure the plugin through the ‘Facebook Connector’ section of the ‘Settings’ menu
6. Use the Facebook App info (step 2) to configure the plugin
7. Create a new template for comments.
8. Activate the Facebook Connector widget from the ‘Design / Widtgets’ menu.
9. Important: If you dont see the Facebook Connect login button and the user photos (on IExplorer), you need to modify your “header.php” theme file:

I REALLY like this plugin, thanks. But, I’m not a coder, and the installation directions are a bit.. confusing. Any chance there’s a user-friendly version available, or a Q&A session for non-coders, like me, to get help slogging our way through the install?

is there any comment template available to see how the code works?
Does this plugin only provide “ÚLTIMAS VISITAS” ? Because that is only its showing on my site, its not showing the other tabs “Amigos” AND “Comentarios” ?
I changed the name of my FB page and now the plugin does not publish to the page. Where do I enter data like the FB and twitter addresses? I did this once but now have no idea how. It doesn’t seem to be in the settings section.

Hi Javier Reyes i want to install your plugin in my wordpress blog but my theme was not support widgets. I’ve succed to call the plugin, but i can’t edit login button width to fit with 140px. How can I do that? You can see here http://dgi-indonesia.com. Thanks.

Para blog url & name utilizar {*blogname*}
Para post url & name utilizar {*post_title*}
A que te refieres en “para”? Donde se realiza ese cambio? A la hora de crear un nuevo template?

I can’t get the post comments to FB feature to work in Chrome (okay in IE & FF) – just using this to test
Well yours works in Chrome – mine doesn’t seem to, http://newchurchsuffolk.org.uk – it might be the way WordPress is parsing the comments, I’m running 2.8.5 – everything else, for example login & share button works fine. Grr.
How does this work if you are doing it for a fanpage? (not a profile)

Just querying whether the plugin works for wp 2.8.4 I have attempted to install it and I get the following message in the plugin management:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Services_JSON in /var/www/vhosts/thatid.com/subdomains/demo/httpdocs/geny/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/facebook-client/jsonwrapper/JSON/JSON.php on line 116
I’ve deleted fbconnect directory and then installed it again but the same issue appears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve installed the plugin, checked the live blog and it shows the system nicely, however, on clicking connect with facebook, it takes me to a page as under construction and may be it has to do something with the callback thing…
would be great, if someone can help…. secondly, I am using gravatar for comments, so I want to display facebook images on this Facebook Connect plugin instead of my gravatar images….

you need to configure your Connect URL and base domain, on the Facebook Application Configurarion Page (Step 2):
Connect URL: http://www.sociable.es
Base domain: sociable.es
The plugin show the Facebook profile avatar if the user has logged with Facebook Connect, and Gravatar photo in other case
I’ve used the above given code in header.php file but the connect with facebook button isn’t showing in up in IE8?….
I’m trying to use the plugin on a thesis theme. I added the “thesis theme compatibility” into the theme folder. Does this need to go into a specific folder within the thesis themes file? Thank you so much in advance.

Can I use this plugin without trouble if I am using the WPbook plugin? I ask this because in the readme.txt file that came with the WPbook plugin, it says that you should not use this two plugins together, but this was months ago, I don’t know if the issue got fixet yet, cuz in the readme.txt it also said that there was working on resolving this matter.

Thanks for the very valuable information. But inspite of following all the steps without fail, I am not able to see the facebook login button and nothing is happening If I click.

Hey, how can I get the ajax kinda popup window (the one like in your blog) in mine as well.
ANy time I click Create Template I get “Error updating Facebook templates!” — “Templates not synchronized with Facebook, write the templates text and press create templates!” // This is after Update configurations runs fine. Any ideas?

i deactivated and removed both facebook connected apps, deletes the folders from the server and then started again step by step. Both work together, but cannot see the FB button in IE 8 or 7. FF works fine. I would appreciate ANY insight you could give… by email or a reply to this post. Thanks Javier in advance.

Hi Javier, I LOVE this plugin! The fact that it is widgetized sets it far above any other fb connect plugin. I have set this up, made sure that the appropriate pieces of code are in the right places (as per your troubleshooting, and I have a bit of a challenge, – i dont get login button, or any of the functionality.

I have another facebook app – “Fotobook Albums” connected, which pulls facebook albums from a profile. Could it be that 2 different connections, although not “called” at teh same time is causing a conflict? I tried disabling the foto albums and still have the issue… I would REALLY apprecaite your help, this is THE tool i have been really lookign for…!

Having some major issues with this plugin.. I have followed everything to the letter and it always comes up within facebook when clicking the login via facebook button says it’s under construction what can be done to fix this?
The Plugin works just fine but when I want to publish a comment on Facebook I get a pop up saying:

Invalid template bundle id specified:. You can see this because you are one of the developers of the app.
however I did activate the Feed and the bundle id is the same on http://developer.facebook.com/tools.php?templates aswell as my plugin settings page?!?!
