Important: If you dont see the Facebook Connect login button and the user photos (on IExplorer), you need to modify your “header.php” theme file:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd”>
<html xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml” xmlns:fb=”http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml”>
……

and check your footer.php theme file: if don’t have a < ?php wp_footer(); ?> line
Add it before the end body tag:

< ?php wp_footer(); ?>
< /body>
< /html>

  1. Hi – I’m having a problem I can’t figure out. After someone submits a comment (after connecting with facebook), this error comes up right after the “submit” button is clicked:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: fb_comments_add() in /home2/converg4/public_html/harrisonburgpost/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbConnectLogic.php on line 599

    The comment does go through, but it interrupts the flow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks – and great plugin!

  6. I’m having tons of problems with this plugin. Where can I find help?

    I set it up and it seems to work for about an hour. Then, my whole website goes blank and the only way to fix it is to take fbconnect our of my plugins folder via ftp. Then, the site is fine again.

    I set it to collect a log file with the “debug” setting, but I don’t know what to do with that information. Nothing look out of the ordinary.

    [05/02/2010 00:01:14] [DEBUG] [fbConfig_php5::fb_getParams]
    [05/02/2010 00:01:14] [DEBUG] [fbConfig_php5::fb_get_loggedin_user]
    [05/02/2010 00:01:14] [DEBUG] [fbConfig_php5::fb_get_loggedin_user]

    Just that same little bit over and over every few minutes. I suspect it’s what happens each time a new visitor comes to the site?

    Any ideas? I tried turning off and deleting any unnecessary plugins, increasing the php execution time and increasing the memory in php.ini. Thought it might be a memory issue, but none of that helped.

    Bonjour à tous,
    Mon site doit être en ligne dès lundi et le fbconnect ne fonctionne pas voici l’erreur quand je clique dessus :
    “Pour corriger cette erreur, vous devez indiquer votre Connect URL dans l’éditeur des paramètres d’applications. Lorsque cela aura été fait, les utilisateurs seront redirigés vers cette URL à la place de cette page après s’être connectés.”

    Dans les paramètres de mon aplic facebook, j’ai changé 150 coup le connect URL sans réussite, qu’est-ce que je dois mettre?
    Je compte sur vous!

    The plugin works great, the only problem that I encounter is that facebook doesn’t allow the email to register. Is there some option or plugin to check if the user has a valid emailadres. If not, redirect to the profile page. At this moment I created a text on the frontpage to notify the users that they manually have to update their profile. I couldn’t get redirect working. It could be implemented with window.location (javascript), but that is required in the header. I could not figure out how to check for a valid email in a header hook. So if you could help me? I tried to use a template_redirect etc. but it doesn’t work unfortunately.

    The other issue: The plugin adds FB_.. to the Facebook ID as user ID. Is it possible to use ‘Firstname_Lastname as username? To prevent duplication, add a number (0 or 1) if the ID is not an unique one? That would be clearer in the backend and also if people quit Facebook, that they can use a normal name instead of ‘FB_0123456′. Thanks!
