      Open file /public_html/blogg/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbConfig_php4.php
      FIND THIS:
      function json_encode($data){
      require_once ‘facebook-client4/classes/JSON.php’;
      $json = new Services_JSON();
      return $json->encode($data);
      }
      REPLACE WITH:
      /*
      function json_encode($data){
      require_once ‘facebook-client4/classes/JSON.php’;
      $json = new Services_JSON();
      return $json->encode($data);
      }

      Wiips, it works ;) The function is allready decleared in another file.

  28. hi guys,

    im having problem with my (Facebook Connect WordPress Plugin). I upgraded my wordpress to 2.9 then I cannot longger activate the Facebook Connect WordPress Plugin..

    heres the error.. Facebook Connector

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare json_encode() (previously declared in /blogs/wp-includes/compat.php:128) in /blogs/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbConfig_php4.php on line 143

    • I have the same problem
      Error
      Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

      Fatal error: Cannot redeclare json_encode() (previously declared in /blogs/wp-includes/compat.php:128) in /blogs/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbConfig_php4.php on line 143

    • Same. Hoping a fix will come out soon.

    • I too am running the new 2.9 on a brand new blog setup and cannot get this plugin to work on 2.9… same error:

      Fatal error: Cannot redeclare json_encode() (previously declared in /blogs/wp-includes/compat.php:128)

      so i deleted the plugin dir so my site can work. I was wondering if you had a date for a planned update to this plugin?

      • Ok.. so I commented out the last line of code starting on plugins/fbconnect/fbConfig_php4.php on line 143 and it works. It deals with json and apparently the updates to wordpress already initialize the json function.

        And just to clarify I was running PHP4 at the time and commenting out line 143 entirely fixed the problem for me. I’m about to upgrade to PHP5 and let you know if I still have a problem with it.

      • Ugh.. So I updated the account to PHP5 in the hopes I could have the latest PHP and this plugin working but I get this error at the bottom of all my pages now:

        Warning: Unknown: open(/tmp/sess_d433a25497b5ce0a492d3cf604634259, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0

        Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct () in Unknown on line 0

        When I deactivate this plugin the error disappears. I’m contacting our hosting tech to determine if its a localized setting causing the error and will update.

    • olegsbox says:

      Please, sombody! I have the same BIG problem:

      Fatal error: Cannot redeclare json_encode() (previously declared in /homepages/38/d309152549/htdocs/wordpress/wp-includes/compat.php:128) in /homepages/38/d309152549/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbConfig_php4.php on line 143

      Thanks!
      PS: I use the last vertion of WordPres2.9 and in rest everithing go fine!

    • Joseph says:

      I am getting this error also, since upgrading to the latest version of WordPress. If anyone has found a workable solution, please post step-by-step instructions for carrying it out.

    • A.B. Dada says:

      Definitely doesn’t work on Chrome or IE, but works fine on Firefox. I checked, and I have both the xmlns:fb and the wp footer php all included and working fine.

      I even went so far as to check the source page for this website versus mine and everything seems identical. The FB Connect button works on this site under Chrome, but not on my site. Has to be something we’re all missing, but I know there is a problem with this plug-in because hundreds of bloggers are complaining about it not working with Chrome.

  29. Matt F says:

    There is a bug in the addin with PHP4 and WordPress 2.9. In the config file for WordPress 4, the function “json_encode” is already declared in a wordpress function. I renamed the function to fbjson_encode() and changed the call. The issue is fixed.

  38. Very nice plugin, thank you very much. I just encountered one thing though: I’ve installed it and am looking at the HTML suggestions page in Google Webmaster tools. It seems it has generated a duplicate meta description between my home page and /?fbconnect_action=community page

    Also, its created duplicate title tags. How can this be corrected?
